Several casket stores have come and gone in Indianapolis.
Costco continues to sell caskets, but according to a friend that works there, he has not seen much demand or interest. As far as cheap caskets Indianapolis, they are hard to find.
Indiana Funeral Care prices it's caskets at prices much lower than other funeral homes in Indianapolis....and they are American made! Some funeral homes in Indianapolis have started selling caskets made in China, which is okay, I guess. But due to the number of veterans funeral services we perform and just plain old patriotic feelings, we have stayed with American manufacturers. The price is fair, the quality is dependable and consistent and we can obtain just about any color or material in 24 hours.

Most veterans have no idea that VA National Cemeteries offer a free grave, free opening and closing of the grave, free outer burial container and free marker for the veteran AND spouse. When people are planning funerals for veterans, they should at least consider a National Cemetery. An honorable and beautiful place for burial and they will save thousands of dollars.

People searching for Indiana Discount Funerals want to make their own informed decisions. Most people want to make a purchase decision based on facts and not what a funeral director talks them into. When consumers go to Lowes or Home Depot, they make a purchase decision on their own based on product information on the box and on price. If they want advice, they ask for it. Consumers visit
www.indianafuneralcare.com and find complete and understandable funeral and cremation service details and price information. If they have questions, they call.

Hanging out at the VFW Post #10003 last night at the reception to honor Del Waugh, a member's wife said her husband understood that VA Funerals were paid for by the VA until just recently. When they asked a local funeral home about VA benefits, they responded that they did not know, but would look into it. We can clarify VA Funeral benefits in advance with just a call. Now that he realized that there is not such thing as VA Funerals and that the benefits would not cover the cost, he wants to preplan his funeral.

A caller pleaded that someone has to offer discount cremations in Indiana! She had called several funeral homes looking for low price or discount cremations with no success. One had quoted the price of the cremation for $1,400, plus a container for $125, plus the cremation fee of $300, plus, plus plus! Another said they could save her lots of money over a regular funeral and their price was $2,995. When I told her our price is $890, she responded, "Plus what? What are the ad ons?" When she realized the price is $890 complete, she replied, "Now that's more like it! An honest up front, no frills company that offers discount cremations!"

Indiana discount funerals? More people are seeking discount funerals in Indiana. More and more calls, website visits, internet inquiries. Times are tough! Just hard to see the value in paying $10,000 for a funeral when we offer a number of
complete church funeral and visitation packages for less than $5,000.

Cremation in Indiana is growing to a level of acceptance among a broad spectrum of families. With cremation, distraught family members and close friends seem to be able to focus more on the life lived, than the body of the deceased. I witnessed such a meaningful service for a well loved young man, attended by so many that were so deeply touched!

After witnessing the funeral at the Indiana War Memorial this week, I cannot think of a more fitting location for funerals for veterans. The grandeur, history and significance of the Indiana War Memorial is inspiring and makes attendees proud and appreciative of the dedication and commitment to our country of our veterans. It doesn't seem so much like a funeral, but more an expression of gratitude and celebration of an unselfish life lived and gift given!

Lady at the Senior Expo today told me she wished she had known about the
Indiana Church Funeral Plan before she had pre planned funerals for herself and her husband. She was surprised to learn that pre planned funerals could be transferred and done so easily. She was also surprised that since we offer low price funerals that the excess would be refunded to her family at the time of service. She asked that we assist her with the transfer and we are pleased to assist!

My wife is a case manager for a firm from the East Coast that assists patients in Indiana. Since she works with patients that have serious illnesses, she often speaks with people that may soon be facing a death. However, she feels it is a conflict of interest to mention our services and I agree. She had an interesting conversation with a lady from northern Indiana that had recently lost her husband. The widow was told by a funeral home that she was saving a lot of money by cremating her husband. She was told that a funeral service in Indiana cost almost $10,000, so paying $3,200 for a cremation in Indiana was a bargain. My wife was so disturbed by this, knowing that we would have charged $890 plus transportation of $200 to have performed the same services.

For people seeking Indiana discount funerals and cremations, pre planning helps a great deal. People that pre plan funerals spend less, make better decisions and are more satisfied with the results after the funeral.

More families are looking for Indiana discount funerals. Unfortunately, those families are being misled by companies that advertise low prices, but do not include essential services for which they charge more. Extra charges for transportation of the body from the place of death, for a "crematory fee", for a cremation container, services of director at graveside, etc.
Indiana Funeral Care may be the only Indiana funeral and cremation service provider that publishes pricing on it's website. Our package prices include everything except charges outside of our control, such as newspaper charges for obituaries, cemetery expenses. No bait and switch, honest, practical packages for families seeking dignified funerals and cremations at value prices.

I am frustrated and saddened when we receive calls (like we did today) that a funeral home did not make arrangements for military honors for a funeral for a veteran. It is so simple and so richly deserved! When any funeral home performs funerals for veterans, I believe they have an obligation to make arrangements for military honors to be performed by a local burial team or with active duty personnel from the branch of service.
Regardless of the funeral home, call us, we will make those arrangements, "on behalf of a grateful nation!"

We talked with an out of town family today that was quoted by a funeral home in their city, $3,000 for a cremation and $1,500 extra if the death occured and arrangements were made on a weekend. I understand that it costs more for staff to work on a weekend, but $1,500? Wow!
I never thought you could refer to our price as a "cheap cremation", but apparently it is. I would prefer to think of it as low cost cremation or value price cremation.

What an honor to participate in the
American Legion National Convention in Phoenix in the last few days. The response from Legion members to our funerals for veterans packages was very well received. Many of the attendees were not aware of the
veterans burial benefits at the VA national cemetery and were very appreciative of the services
Veterans Funeral Care provides for less fortunate veterans and their families. We heard a lot of great stories and met a lot of impressive men and women that have served our country!

Interesting recent article in the
Indy Star describing the growing interest in green burials. I'm not sure how many Indiana Funeral Homes have been asked about green burials. We have often been asked about cheap caskets and discount funerals, but I cannot remember any director at
Indiana Funeral Care having been asked to perform a green burial.
Since there are no green cemeteries in Indiana, it would be quite a challenge. We could partially achieve a green burial by using a minimum casket and a Jewish Orthodox burial container, which has an opening in the bottom of the container. This would permit the un-embalmed remains of the deceased to be "returned to the earth" over time.

Why do more and more people Google for discount funerals and cremations in Indiana? There is a small but rapidly growing segment of people that are looking for more simplicity and less expense in funeral and cremation services. There are lots of good traditional funeral homes in Indiana, but trying to find a quality value provider that offers "discount funerals" or "discount cremations" in Indiana is a difficult task.
Many funeral home websites have beautiful graphics and colors, but no pricing information. There is a reason! When you visit the website of
Indiana Funeral Care you will see they offer cremation and funeral packages anywhere in Indiana at discount prices, 40% to 50% less than traditional funeral homes.

Many people search for cheap caskets online because of the extraordinary markup many funeral homes place on caskets. I am told they would prefer to buy the casket from the funeral home, but some of the prices are so high, they go online to find sources for discount caskets. The fact that most funeral homes markup their caskets so high has always amazed me. Every business has the right to set pricing at whatever level they deem appropriate, but consumers are smart and getting smarter all the time.
The cost of the casket is included in the
Church Funeral Plan prices at Indiana Funeral Care, but we also price caskets separately. All of our caskets are made by companies with manufacturing operations in Indiana. We do not sell caskets made in China, but our casket prices are cheaper than any other Indianapolis funeral homes and to the best of our knowledge, in the State of Indiana.

We are honored to serve families of less fortunate veterans in need of financial assistance. When a
Veteran dies in a VA Medical Center or if his or her care is contracted out to a hospice or nursing facility (domiciled):
A.
Indiana Funeral Care will pick up the body of the deceased, meet with the family to complete all documents, bathe, dress and casket, in a minimum flat top casket, arrange for a military graveside service and transport to the closest VA cemetery for that service. We will provide those services for the VA burial benefits, there will be no charge to the family.
B. Indiana Funeral Care will pick up the body of the deceased, meet with the family to complete all documents, cremate and transport to the closest
VA cemetery for a
military graveside committal service. We will provide those services for the VA burial benefits, there will be no charge to the family.
We are most grateful for our veterans and their service to our country!
